EVERETTE, James L.
Resident of Pine City, NY
Age 82, born November 30, 1924 in Hahira, GA, the son of the late Leon A. and Lula (Morrell) Everette, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital with his beloved family at his side. James is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Doris C. (Wiggins) Everette; special daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and James Butler of Pine City, NY; Eldora and Larry LaRue of Knoxville, TN; along with six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. James was a veteran of the US Navy, proudly serving his country from 1942 - 1945. He was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #62 Elmira Elks Club. James retired after many dedicated years as a self-employed contractor. Family and friends will gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY, on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held there on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend William Vallet will officiate. Interment will follow where he will be laid to rest in the family plot at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Everette Military Honors. Memorial donations may be directed to the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church, 1238 Pennsylvania Ave., Pine City, NY 14871 or to the Food Bank at the Church in memory of James. A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for his family in obituaries at www.olthof.com
