Age 82, of Elmira, NY, passed away, Thursday, November 22nd, 2007, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to call Friday, December 7th, 2007, at the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmria, NY, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira, NY following the calling hours at 1:00 p.m. Graveside committal prayers will be shared directly in the St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for the family in Obituaries at www.olthof.com.

Miss Byrne was my teacher when I was a student at Jean Summers Business School. The work ethic was much different back then. She taught us "poise" and how to be the proper secretary. I am forever grateful for what she taught me. It has served me well.

I am in my third year as an assistant principal and taught mathematics for seventeen years before that and it is because of people like Alice Byrne that motivated me as a student. Thanks, Miss Byrne, rest in peace
