"Dolly"
"HELLO DOLLY"
Ellen passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at St. Joseph's Hospital on Thursday, December 6, 2007. She was born in Pearl River, NY on October 26, 1921. Dolly is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Robert H. Huddle, Sr.; children, with their families, Dr. Robert, Jr. and Kathleen Huddle of Elmira, with daughters, Christine (Jason) Fairfax, Katharine Rose (Zachary) Rothstein, Molly and Megan; William and Janet Huddle of Penfield, NY, with sons, Scott, Jeffrey and Mark; Dr. Timothy and Linda Huddle, of Elmira, with daughter, Lindsey; and Patricia and Stephen Keppler of Endwell, NY, with daughter, Michelle; sister, Peggy Weilandt, and brother-in-law, Robert Johns. Ellen was married to Robert on August 31, 1946 in Hillsdale, NJ. Her education included St. Saviours Academy, in Brooklyn, Katherine Gibbs School in New York City, and New York University. Dolly served in the United States Navy as a WAVE during World War II and was stationed in Washington, D.C. Her volunteer activities included, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as President for 2 years, the Elmira Community Kitchen at Ss. Peter & Paul Church, and the Chemung County Mental Health Clinic. Dolly was a strong, spirited, passionate woman, who gave the word elegance definition. She raised her children to love God, their country, and their neighbor. Dolly was devoted to her yoga exercises, bicycle riding, and reading. To her husband she was a friend, companion, counselor, and super wife. Dolly wanted contributions in her honor to be made to one-self…she wanted you to have an evening out at your favorite restaurant or show. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial services, with full military honors, will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please render contributions to, The Dominican Monastery, 1310 W. Church Street, Elmira, NY 14905, or Mt. Saviour Monastery, Mt. Saviour Road, Pine City, NY 14871.

It's almost a month now that we both lost our mom's just a day apart. It's said that grief can't be shared. That everyone carries it alone; his own burden, in his own way. Please treat yourself with great tenderness and please know my love and prayers are with you now and always.
