Elizabeth Austin Obituary

AUSTIN, Elizabeth Joanna
87, of Sidney, NY, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City. Elizabeth was born on May 4, 1920, daughter of the late Claude and Joanna (Emderle) Theetge in Elmira Heights, NY. On May 8, 1943, Betty married Warren Austin in Greenwood, MS. Elizabeth was employed as a waitress at Ken's Diner in Sidney until retiring in May of 1985. She was a 40 year member of the Unadilla Center United Methodist Church, and also a Fagan Flyer. She is survived by loving husband of 64 years, Warren Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Wendy Austin, Honeoye, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Robert Johnson, Beaufort, NC; five grandsons, Jason Austin, Eric Austin, Robert Johnson, Jr., Brett Johnson and David Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen and Francis Smith, Horseheads, Marian Morgan, Horseheads, Rosalie Vondracek, Cayuta, NY; brother and sister-in-law, John "Jack" and Eleanor Theetge, Horseheads. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Elizabeth was predeceased by a brother, Harold Theetge. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney. Rev. Norman Tiffany of the Unadilla Center United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty's name may be directed to the Unadilla Center United Methodist Church, 1204 Butternuts Road, Unadilla, NY 13849. Arrangements by C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, NY 13838.
