Nina Howell Obituary

HOWELL, Nina M.
98, formerly of Tyrone, NY, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at the Eastern Star Home in Oriskany, NY. She was born November 2, 1909 in Tyrone, the daughter of Asa and Rozetta Price Huey. Nina was the head baker at Westinghouse in Bath in the 50's and 60's, after retiring she was the Town of Tyrone Tax Collector for several years. She was the oldest member, in terms of age and membership, of the Tyrone United Methodist Church, member of the Tyrone Eastern Star, and the Tyrone Grange. Surviving are her sons, Robert A. (Dorothy) Howell of Avon Park, FL and Lawrence C. (Joan) Howell of Bradford, NY; sister-in-law, Colleen Howell of Bradford; nine grandchildren, Roger, Linda, Don, and David Howell, and Jack, Art, Bill, Tim, Jim Allard; 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and four nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur R. Howell in 1988; and daughter, Cleda Allard in 1986. Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport. An Eastern Star Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Tyrone United Methodist Church immediately followed by funeral services with Rev. Joseph Auslander and Rev. Brian Homan officiating. Interment will be in the Tyrone Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church or the Eastern Star Home, P.O. Box 959, Oriskany, NY 13424.
