Evelyn and Carter:

I am so very sorry for your loss, and very sad myself. I miss Randall every day and of course we must have taken him for granted at the Hennepin County DFL. We didn't realize how much he did and how much he held us together. We were fortunate to know him. May he rest in peace.

Evelyn,

Words are so inadequate. Please accept my sympathy in the loss of your husband, Randy. May your work, faith and craft give you strength to endure the coming weeks and months of grief.

Dear Evelyn and Carter:

I worked very closely with Randall through the LearningTimes online community. Though he and I never met personally, we experienced a wonderful collaboration and presented at several online conferences together. Randall had a brilliant mind, a fantastic insight into creating dynamic learning experiences and passionately served in his community. I was tremendously enriched by our collaboration and will sorely miss him. May you experience the closeness of friends and family at this time. I pray you will have peace.

I'VE ALWAYS CONSIDERED MYSELF AN OUTSIDER LOOKING IN. IN MY INTERACTIONS WITH RANDALL I FOUND AN EXTREMELY COMMITTED PERSON IN HIS WORK WITH THE DFL. WITH HIS PASSING THERE WILL BE A MAJOR VOID THAT WILL BE HARD TO FILL. MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

During the short time I spent with Randall in the DFL, he was always a pleasure to work with. His enthusiasm will be missed.

My father passed away last year, too soon, like Randall. My thoughts are with his family because I know this is a difficult time for them.

This is a a greeting from a person who was on the CLIC Committee with Randall. This is a committee of 30+ volunteers appointed by the Mayor and Council Members to prioritize the City's capitol spending. We are stunned by this news of Randall and lamenting the huge loss to you - his family - and the huge loss to the community. One of our recent CLIC meetings was on Earth Day, and during our lunch break, Randall and a group of volunteers did clean-up of a stretch of the Mississippi River in North Minneapolis. Randall expressed how great he felt to have done this work together. At the end of the day, it was Randall who biked back down the road home with his huge CLIC manual stapped to the back of his bicycle. It was obvious that he cared very much about the environment and about volunteering his time and energies to larger causes. He will be sorely missed.
