FREITAG, Carolyn Fay Rea Carolyn Fay Rea Freitag of Austin, Texas passed away on December 10, 2020 after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born February 11, 1938 in Detroit Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents Homer W Rea and Francis W Rea. She is survived by her three children William W Freitag Jr, Suanne Freitag McLellan and Jaynellen(Mimi) Freitag Gallien. She is also survived by three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Carolyn graduated from Redfield High School in Detroit Michigan and she earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of Michigan. She was a devoted mother and grandmother as well as friend to many. She has a life long passion for reading and music and played the violin beginning at age seven. She enjoyed traveling and loved going on cruises and going to the beach. She volunteered at the Austin Symphony and enjoyed her monthly dinners with friends. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She held many positions including dental hygienist, church secretary, and executive assistant at Continuum and Carbomedics. In later years she worked at Austin Community College helping students with disabilities. Due to Covid-19 there will not be a public memorial. Her family will hold a private memorial at a future date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to either The American Cancer Society or Hospice Austin.
