Terrence O'Brien Obituary

Terrence Patrick O'Brien, 80, died Aug. 8, 2009, at VNA Hospice House. He was born in Atlantic City, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 29 years, coming from Annandale, Va. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and served as a tank platoon commander during the Korean War. He received his undergraduate degree from Manhattan College and later graduated from Georgetown University Law School. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, and the Marine Corps Tankers Association. He was appointed to the Subversive Activities Control Board and was an attorney for the Federal Communication Commission. He worked as a legislative liaison for Fairfax County, Va., and as an attorney for the city of Vero Beach and Indian River County. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Maureen; sons, Michael and John O'Brien, both of Vero Beach; daughter, Lisa Jansen of Blacksburg, Va.; and five grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Services: A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Thomas. S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A guest book may be signed at lowtherfuneralhome.com.
