Stacie Spencer Obituary

AURORA - Stacie Marie (Depner) Spencer, 45, of rural Aurora died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 22nd & Wheeler St. in Grand Island with viewing one hour prior to the service. In lieu of floral offerings it is suggested that memorials be donated to the family. Stacie's greatest love and pride was for her husband and their beautiful family; only exceeded by her devotion and love for her Heavenly Father and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

She was born Oct. 7, 1964 in Pierre, S.D., to Donald and Joyce (Werner) Depner, who later lived at Choteau, Mont., where Stacie attended schools and graduated from Choteau High School. She also graduated from Ricks College at Rexburg, Idaho. At college she met her husband, Ronald R. Spencer and they were married on Jan. 18, 1986, in Logan, Utah. They lived in Rexburg, Alhambra, California, Arvada, Colo. before moving to their permanent residence in Aurora.

She was an active and devoted convert member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having a strong and abiding testimony of its divinity. She has dedicated her time and skills in the perfecting of lessons and instructions in numerous callings in the church; for the children, the youth, and presently acting as a counselor in the presidency of the Woman's Relief Society of the Aurora branch of the church. She has been a constant support for her husband in his church callings as well.

She loved her beautiful home in the country and devoted her skills in decorating, and many hobbies and crafts, among which are framed cross-stitch creations she leaves for her family to treasure.

Since their children have all been in school, Stacie has been employed with various businesses and at the time of the onset of her illness she was employed at Principal Financial Group of Grand Island.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Ronald, her six children, Nial, Erik, LeAnna, Leigha, Evan and Larisa. Nial is presently attending Brigham Young University Idaho, at Rexburg; Erik is serving a two-year mission for the LDS Church in the Washington-Kennewick mission, and has been in Yakima, Wash., for his first nearly six months. The younger children are attending the schools in Aurora. Other survivors are her parents Donald and Joyce Depner of Choteau, Mont., her mother-in-law, DeNiece Spencer of Aurora, a sister-in-law and nephew, Terese and Lars Nielsen of Temple City, Calif., a brother-in-law, Terence Spencer of Milford; other aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her only sister, Sonja, during their childhood, also her father-in-law, Robert Spencer.

The Spencer family would like to express their deep appreciation to the many doctors, nurses and other medical personnel who have rendered such loving and compassionate care for Stacie during her long illness. And to the many loved ones; friends and associates for their monumental acts of service, assistance and support in their times of need.

Ron and Family,

I feel so fortunate to have known Stacie. She was such a great person. She always gave it her all in whatever she did. I enjoyed her so much. I miss her laugh and smile. I pray that God's comfort will ease the pain for you.
On our last conversation which was about 3 weeks ago, she told me how glad she was to be with her family. She drew so much strength from you all. Her family was her reason to keep fighting. She is an inspiration to many of us.
What a loss for all of us on earth but I know that heaven is rejoicing to have her back.

Stacie,
I was coming to work just the other day and heard that you passed and I wanted you to know I will miss you my precious friend. I can still hear your laughter in my ears and I remember how much we laughed in training. I will always be grateful that I had a friend like you. A friend that will always inspire me and someone who taught me not take things for granted. I will always remember the strength and the courage you showed all of us and the way you always had faith. I will think of you often and I will cry many tears, not for you but for me because of the loss I feel. No Stac I will laugh for you and smile to the heavens for you because you are now with our Lord and you will always be just a thought away. I will pray for your husband and your beautiful children to find strength and love in your memory.

I love you and like I said many times when talking to you, I will never say good bye I will only say until the next time.
