David McCulloch Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Aug. 7 to Aug. 10, 2008.
McCULLOCH, David Charles, our beloved Chuckie, Papa, Uncle Chuck, Chuckles, Uncle Salty, Uncle Smudgy, Bro and Bra, was ripped away from us forever Saturday, August 2, 2008. On a 24 by 7 basis, Chuck was full of life. When we fantasize about escaping our daily responsibilities, Chuckles was who we wanted to be. Chuck's zeal for living life to its fullest was a daily blessing for us all. Whether he was on his bike or surfing or improving his house or playing his guitars and piano, or just partying like there was no tomorrow (the only way he knew how to party), Chuckie was the spice in our lives. But Chuck's greatest accomplishment and deepest love? His son, David. Chuckie leaves behind a son, parents, brother, sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, friends, and lovers, who are truly blessed to have known, loved, and played with him. Catch ya later, BRO!! Love ya, Chuck! Bye, Papa. Love you, son. CHUCKIE!!!! A memorial service followed by a celebration of Chuckie's life will be held at noon on Saturday, August 9, at the home of Chuck's brother, Tim, in Yorktown. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.

Happy Birthday, brother. It is not the same celebrating our birthday without you. We have always touched base on this day and caught up in each other's lives for the last 20+ years and I am bummed to be doing this. Fare thee well. We trudge on here in what is a Brokedown Palace without you.

The void that was left by chucks passing will never be able to be re placed. He was a lot of things to a lot of different people, To me he was a friend that seemed to be able to find the good in every one. He was always up beat and cheerful and just an all around good person. He will be missed by all that knew him. Chuck will continue to live on in our hearts and memories.

My deepest sympathies go out to all of you! Although I only met Chuck once at Joan's party last year, we did manage to share some of our experiences at Widespread Panic shows. I am writing on my tie-dyed t-shirt Sophia gave me at the memorial party "In memory of Chuck McCulloch" and I'll be wearing this to every WSP concert I go to from this day forward. Just know the pain will ease in each passing day as your love for Chuck will grow. I realized how close the McCulloch family is this past Saturday and it amazed me. I'm sure Chuck felt your love everyday. How lucky all of you are for having such wonderful memories of him as well as funny stories to share about him. My love to all of you.

We had the pleasure of meeting Chuck only a week before his passing but no doubt with just a few hours spent with him could see his beaming personality. We are saddened for your loss. He was sorely missed and remembered by all in Apple Mountain last week. Lots of toasts to his wonderful shortened life. RIP Chuck. God Bless his family & friends.

Chuck provided me with professional advice and guidance that I will use throughout my life. His sense of humor is one that cannot be replaced and I will never forget the card games he hosted which always seemed to end with him holding the chips and me laughing so hard my sides hurt. rest in peace.

Tim, Sherry and entire family.
We were shocked to discover Chuck had passed. Ricky and I had met him several times with you guys and we remember his love for the guitar, the nite at Lake Gaston when he sat and played with Ricky all night. He was always full of smiles and laughs.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love you guys!

My heart and prayers go out to the entire McCulloch family. Chuck was a remarkable, pleasent young man who was certainly taken away from us way too soon. I pray each one of you can find comfort knowing that Chuck is in a better place, and that he has touched the lives of so many, in such a positive, unique way.
God loves and peace be with you,
Much love and care, Eddie Barefoot

May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of Chuck. He lived life to the fullest and I was lucky enough to be part of that life. Chuck has left me with a different view on life and I will never forget the time we spent together. He loved his family so very much. He respected and admired his brother Tim and adored his sister Tammy. Chuck always displayed such pride and love when he was tallking to his son or about his son, Daved. I am so very, very sorry!!

He will be greatly missed.

Life throws us curves and your leaving us in the very prime of your life is definitely one. All of us who knew you always smiled when you were around and it goes without saying, you will be missed.

I remember Chuck pretty much the way you described him in the paper. Although I haven't seen Chuck in a few years, I always think about what a cutie he was a his laugh, Chuck had a great laugh that was contagious! I will always remember what great guy he was, how much fun it was to be around him and how much he adored and admired his big brother Tim. I wish I could say something/anything that would make all this better but I know I can't. I can only say that I am terribly, terribly sorry. I am sorry and deeply saddened for Chuck, Joan, Chuck's father, Tim, Tammy and everyone else who loved him. Please, please let me know if I can do anything even if it's just to sit and listen or be there to hold onto for a while.

I love you all,

Chuck, we will miss you.

You played hard but you worked hard as well. Your personality and energy made you a natural at sales.

Let it be known there will not be a happy hour in the future where you are not thought of and spoken of as I am sure we all have numerous Chuck stories to share.

Rest in peace friend and save us a seat at the happy hour you are planning.
