Kevin Brown Obituary

Published by Mimms Funeral Home from Aug. 12 to Aug. 14, 2008.
BROWN, Kevin Charles, was called home by God in His infinite wisdom on Saturday, August 9, 2008. "KC" or "Bro," as he was often called, was always full of laughter and a true friend to many. He had a jovial personality, and loved working for the U.S. Postal Service more than anything. Kevin, born September 21, 1956, was the beloved son of the late Deacon Charles and Ruby Brown. K.C. accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age by his baptism at Swansboro Baptist Church, Pastor H.R. Plummer. He later joined St. Paul's Baptist Church where he served as a dedicated usher. Kevin graduated from George Wythe High School in June of 1974. He loved to travel and was an avid sports fan. He played basketball and football in high school, as well as in the military. Upon his discharge from the military, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. In his 30 plus years of employment with the U.S.P.S., he was very active in the Union. He served as a shop steward, as well as a term as the maintenance craft director. Kevin was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Kevin Brown; and his sister, Brenda L. Smith. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife of 16 years, Gail Brown; daughter, Ariana Brown; loyal sister, Sandi Brown Jones; his nieces, Tenesha Britton, Diondra Jones; his cousin/brother, Eugene LeGare; and his sincere, genuine friend, Tab Mines; along with a great host of other relatives and close friends. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 15, at St. Paul's Baptist Church (South), 700 E. Belt Boulevard. Dr. Lance D. Watson, pastor. Rev. John Kenney officiating. Interment Maury Cemetery.

Gail,

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and grant you great peace. May He grant you His grace and blessing all the days of your life so that your every prayer intention is heard before you ask and accomplished before you speak. May God grant you abundant faith, persevering hope, and abiding charity all the days of your life so that in this life and the next you may live in the presence of the most Holy Trinity, which is love and mercy itself.

Amen

Psalm 23 (King James Version)

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Gail,
I regret not being able to be there with you this week. I pray your faith and your memories will sustain you. When I visited you and Kevin early in your marriage, Kevin asked "what does she like to eat"; I remember thinking how considerate that was. I know you and Ariana have numerous memories of your own; cherish them. (I'll be there soon.)
