Walter Duty Obituary

DUTY, Walter Cleve Sr., 80, of Crewe, passed away on Monday in Farmville. He was born to John L. and Martha Davis Duty on August 31, 1927 in Buckingham County. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, James Duty Sr., Robert Duty and Maxie Sloan. He is survived by a son, Walter Cleve Duty Jr. of Leichfield, Ky.; a daughter, Martha Gallard of Greenville, Tenn; three grandchildren, Phillip, April and Kendra; four sisters, Mary Ellen Lafoon of Crewe, Thaida Isaacs of Berea, Ky., Bertha Armentrout and M. Faye Duty, both of Richmond; two brothers, John Henry Duty of Meherrin and Grover C. Duty Sr. of Shannon Hill, Va., and a special and devoted friend, Whimpy Doty of Kenbridge. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at the Dunkum Funeral Home in Dillwyn.
