I wanted to take a minute to share some information about Betty. She worked inside UPS - Park Central for 18 years in a variety of positions. She had family, bills, and went to school at night and all of the other things many of us encounter. But what made her special was her outlook on life. No matter what time over the years, I would stop and speak and ask how she was. The answer was always the same "Great!" Never complained, always positive!! Better times are ahead!
While working in Park Central, I had the privilege to see her get the opportunity to take on the role as an Account Executive for UPS. Like everything else she took on the role with passion, desire to grow, to learn and be the best. She referred to the opportunity as now being "Betty Time". You can imagine the enormous challenges of transitioning from an inside job of 18 years to AE. She studied, learned the processes, worked hard and was extremely successful. She never doubted herself for a minute and took that positive outlook with her to the AE role and inspired everyone around her just as she did in her previous roles.
Many would have been frustrated with all of the challenges that come with a new career and the daily challenges that come with the AE job. The daily functions and concerns of the customers, meeting growth plans, sales leads, etc… All were opportunities to Betty not obstacles!!!!
She was thankful, optimistic and always looked at the positive.
Later in my role in Training, I saw the same thing. Every topic I covered in class was put to use enthusiastically. She would schedule extra time with me to ensure she was at her best with the information so she could help her customers grow!
She only got to enjoy "Betty Time" for a brief period before she became ill, and her outlook never changed.
