Zed Ernest Brittain

BRITTAIN, Zed Ernest, 92, of Ellijay, Ga., formerly of Heathsville, Va., passed away on Friday, August 15, 2008. He was a member of Fairfields Baptist Church, Burgess, Va. Zed was a retired tree surgeon, a member of the American Legion Post 117. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Bell Hicks Brittain; a son, James Roger Bailey Brittain; and a brother, Marvin T. Brittain. He is survived by a daughter, Millie B. Markham and husband, Richard of Chesney, S.C.; a sister, Ruth M. Bumgardner of Charlotte, N.C.; a half-sister, Essie Peters of Shelby, N.C.; a brother, Raymond A. Brittain of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Scott A. Markham of Chesney, S.C., Toni Abernathy of Ellijay, Ga., and Nikki R. Carroll of Marietta, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandson. The family will receive friends at Faulkner Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Burgess, Va. on Monday, August 18, 2008 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 19, at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Fairfields Baptist Church Cemetery, Burgess, Va.
