Charles Thorn Obituary

THORN, Charles D., 76, of Southerland Place in Midlothian, where he was well cared for, went to be with his Lord August 16, 2008, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease a year and a half ago. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen M. Thorn; son, David A. Thorn and his wife, Janet; daughter, Deborah A. Rimmell and her husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Cary M. Thorn, Lauren A. Rimmell, Kelly A. Thorn, Kristy L. Thorn and Kelsey L. Rimmell. He was born in Glendora, N.J., and served in the U.S Army in Korea. He retired from General Motors Corp. after 37 years of service. He was an active member of Huguenot Road Baptist Church and an avid genealogy enthusiast. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at the Huguenot Chapel Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Huguenot Road Baptist Church, 10525 W. Huguenot Road, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be held at the Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 1 p.m., following the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Huguenot Road Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

I was so sorry to hear that Mr. Thorn had passed away. I met Mr. Thorn when he and my father were both at Elmcroft. He seemed like a very nice man. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
