Mary Holmes Randall

RANDALL, Mary Holmes, was peacefully lifted to her Heavenly home on August 19, 2008, after being hospitalized for a brief illness on the Palliative Care Unit of the MCV Hospitals. A native of Richmond and a lifelong resident of Church Hill, she was a retired master tailor, seamstress and clothing designer. Mrs. Randall was the oldest of three daughters of the late Arthur J. and Mary Spain Holmes. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Randall and sister, Constance Holmes Bolden. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Mrs. Vivien Holmes Hansbury of Philadelphia, Pa.; her niece, Sandra Lewis; and nephews, Horace A. Trent Jr. and his wife, Theodosia, Vernard W. Trent, Ph.D., and his wife, Robin, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; her niece, Helen Bolden Robertson and her husband, Rev. Dr. Herbert Robertson Sr.; two devoted grandnephews and a grandniece, Clarence A. Lewis Jr. of Philadelphia, Herb Robertson Jr., and Andrea Tiffany Robertson; her sister-in-law, Virgie D. Randall; and niece, Charlotte Randall Ramos; her caring and concerned neighbors, church family members and a host of other grandnieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 25, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the 31st St. Baptist Church, 823 N. 31st St., with a memorial service immediately following celebrating her life and her Christian path to everlasting life in the Spirit with Christ and in the presence of God.
