Catherine Todd Clark

CLARK, Catherine Todd, 81, of Lynchburg, Va., died Thursday, August 21, 2008. She was the wife of the late Pendleton S. Clark Jr. Mrs. Clark was born March 20, 1927 in Jacksonville, Fla., a daughter of the late Dr. John Isaac Todd and Catherine Sompayrac Todd. She was educated in Jacksonville Public Schools and graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 1949. She was a local artist and an active member of the Lynchburg community. She was a member and past president of the Lynchburg Junior League, a member of the Hillside Garden Club, the Garden Club of Virginia, the Lynchburg Art Club, the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center, and was an active alumna of Randolph-Macon Woman's College. She served on the Board of Trustees of Seven Hills School and the Board of the Legal Aid Society. She is survived by her three children, Catherine Clark Capps of Lynchburg, Cecelia Clark Parrish and her husband, William H. Parrish IV, of Richmond, and Pendleton S. Clark III and his wife, Dorothy Chew Clark, of Richmond; her grandchildren, Cecelia C. Capps, Thomas C. Capps Jr., William H. Parrish V, Cecelia S. Parrish, John M. Parrish, Charles T. Parrish, Margaret B. Clark, and Catherine T. Clark; her sister, Cecelia Todd Smith of Tallahassee, Fla.; her brother, John I. Todd Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Clark Roberts and Katherine Clark Hare and her husband, R. Bryant Hare III, of Lynchburg; and several nieces and nephews.
