BRANTLEY, J. Mickey, 61, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2008. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Brantley; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Mallory; granddaughter, Kristen Mallory; sisters, Patricia Warrick, Faye Ricks, Joan Danger. Mickey was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran. He was also a Philip Morris retiree, he spent some of his free time golfing with his daughter and son-in-law, and he and Nancy enjoyed spending the winters in Sarasota, Fla. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Branch's Baptist Church, 3400 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, Va. 23234. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Nation Headquarters, 8605 Cameron St., Silver Spring, Md. 20910.

Nancy,

I was deeply saddened to learn of Mickey’s death recently. I always enjoyed working with Mickey as he was a loyal and steadfast comrade as well as thoughtful person. I know that those of us who knew him well will not forget his joyous laugh. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Dear Nancy, we hope today went as well as could be expected. We sure wish we could have been with you. You and the family have been in our thoughts and prayers all day.
