STITZER, Otis H. "Dan," 78, formerly of Highland Springs, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008. He is survived by two children, Marie Jenkins (Robert) of Dunnsville, Al Stitzer (Stacy) of West Point; six grandchildren, Sharon, Robert Jr., Steven, Brandt, Sydney, Bailey; numerous other relatives; dear friend, Gail Kirby; and the mother of his children, Kathryn H. Stitzer. Dan was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart in combat. He was a retired accountant with Lawyers Title Insurance Company of Richmond. Dan was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church, and was a member of the Sandston VFW, American Legion Post 144, where he was a life member, past post commander and State adjutant; the Sandston Moose; the Babcock Masonic Lodge, where he was a member for over 50 years; Tall Cedars; and the Forty and Eight. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 6, and 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 7, at Nelsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Dr. John Cheyne officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
