Jeffrey Andrick Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Sep. 19 to Sep. 20, 2008.
ANDRICK, Jeffrey Christian, 27, of Richmond, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. He leaves behind his father and mother, Stephen and Cecelia Andrick; his grandparents, Leo and Doris Andrick; and his beloved girlfriend, Margaret Wasaff. He is also survived by his uncles, Dennis and Michael Andrick, and Ralph, Stephen and Early Magee; cousins, Ashley, D.L., Corey, Bradley, and Nicholas Andrick, and Melissa, Jon, Jeremy, Stephanie, Andrew, Tim, and Ben Magee; his cat, Cracker; and close friends, all who will miss him forever. He graduated from Mills E. Godwin High School in 1999 and Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in 2003, majoring in painting and printmaking. As an artist, he was influenced by the work of Matthew Barney, Matthew Ritchie, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol and Dan Flavin. He had an interest in liminal beings, mythology, and lineage. Jeff was a creative, intelligent, loving and giving person, who took more joy in others' happiness than in his own. He never felt defeated by his illness, instead aimed to comfort others, live fully and be thankful for a life full of love without much pain or suffering. He will always be remembered and admired for his warm and easy nature, the way he made others feel special, and zest for life and love of trying new things. He believed that the best enjoyment or pleasure comes from a sense of awe. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, at Bon Air Christian Church, 2071 Buford Road, Richmond, 23235. Memorial contributions may be made to Bon Air Christian Church (DOC) or Massey Cancer Center, P.O. Box 980214, Richmond, Va. 23298.

Cecelia and Stephen,

Sam and I were so sorry to hear of the loss of Jeff. We are out of town and were unable to attend the memorial.

God called home two of his best this year, Grandma and Jeff. We know they are in better places, but we still will always miss them.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you begin to deal with this loss.

All our love,
Sam and Bonnie

I can't stop thinking about what a truly special and unique person Jeff was. His friendship was absolutely a gift; I feel blessed for a decade of wonderful memories that I will treasure and for knowing such an intelligent, gifted and caring person. His way of looking at things was inspiring on so many levels. The impression he made on our lives can not be forgotten, and I know we will keep his memory alive always.

Stephen and Cecelia,

I sit here with tears in my eyes as I read a TRUE to HEART and warmfelt story about Jeff. He was all that is being said about him and a million times more - a true saint, very caring, and unselfish in every thing he has done. He touched so many people and will truly be missed.

I am feeling your pain and I know what both of you are going through. I will pray to God every moment, every day and ask him to watch over you during this time of grief. I am sorry for your lost.

Take Care - Love Always

My sincerest condolences to Jeff’s family and friends.

It was my pleasure to get to know Jeff while he worked at DJJ. He was a creative person with a delightful sense of humor. And, he was someone who would always “get the job done” with energy and dedication.

There are no words to describe the loss of Jeff. But, the one thing I think of is the number of people Jeff touched with his life while he was with us.

I think this quotation from Deepak Chopra could be applied to Jeff and the light he gave us all by his presence:

“The universe wouldn't be complete if it weren't for the fact that you happen to be here."

I will miss Jeff.

“With the Saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of Your servant where there is no pain, nor sorrow, nor suffering, but life everlasting.”
