Jeffrey Christian Andrick

ANDRICK, Jeffrey Christian, 27, of Richmond, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. He leaves behind his father and mother, Stephen and Cecelia Andrick; his grandparents, Leo and Doris Andrick; and his beloved girlfriend, Margaret Wasaff. He is also survived by his uncles, Dennis and Michael Andrick, and Ralph, Stephen and Early Magee; cousins, Ashley, D.L., Corey, Bradley, and Nicholas Andrick, and Melissa, Jon, Jeremy, Stephanie, Andrew, Tim, and Ben Magee; his cat, Cracker; and close friends, all who will miss him forever. He graduated from Mills E. Godwin High School in 1999 and Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in 2003, majoring in painting and printmaking. As an artist, he was influenced by the work of Matthew Barney, Matthew Ritchie, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol and Dan Flavin. He had an interest in liminal beings, mythology, and lineage. Jeff was a creative, intelligent, loving and giving person, who took more joy in others' happiness than in his own. He never felt defeated by his illness, instead aimed to comfort others, live fully and be thankful for a life full of love without much pain or suffering. He will always be remembered and admired for his warm and easy nature, the way he made others feel special, and zest for life and love of trying new things. He believed that the best enjoyment or pleasure comes from a sense of awe. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, at Bon Air Christian Church, 2071 Buford Road, Richmond, 23235.
