Irving Packett Obituary

PACKETT, Irving D., age 76, of Warsaw, Va., a full-time real estate broker since 1961, died suddenly at his home on October 4, 2008. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Rebecca Beazley Packett. Irving is also survived by his sons, Irving David Packett Jr. and wife, Kathy, Mark C. Packett and wife, Kaye, James C. Packett and wife, Patti; and a daughter, Kathryn Packett Corsa and husband, Greg. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Melissa McCutcheon and husband, Terry; and stepson, William D. Mundie and wife, Valorie. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren, Kathyrn P. Gillions and husband, Rob, Christopher Packett, Matt Packett, Ben Packett, Kendall Murphy and her fiance', Brian Consolvo, Elizabeth Packett and her fiance', Christian Nash, Bryce Packett, Madison Packett, Erin Corsa, Paul Corsa, Rebecca Mundie, Kelly McKenzie and her husband, Trever, and Todd McCutcheon. He was delighted by the recent birth of a great-granddaughter, Cameron Elizabeth. Other survivors include his brothers, Joseph B. Packett Jr. and his wife, Edith, and Louis G. Packett and his wife, Jane. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Warsaw Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday (tonight) at the Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Warsaw Baptist Church or the Richmond County Rescue Squad.

Mr. Packett was a dynamic person. He has touched many lives over the years and has inspired greatness in those who knew him. I know he was a good father as well.
