Julius Feuer

FEUER, Julius, 95, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Hamburg, Germany. He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Frieda Feuer, who passed away Friday, October 3, 2008; parents, Herman and Clara Feuer and by his older brothers, Henry and Otto and their wives. Mr. Feuer is survived by his sons, Ron Lahav (formerly known as Ronald Feuer) and his wife, Kathleen, of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, and Stanley J. Feuer and his wife, Eileen May, of Midlothian, Va. In addition, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Ella Berner of New York; nephew, Mark Feuer of Las Vegas, Nev.; and nieces, Arlene Lerner and Loretta Sonnabend, and Karen Schwager Feuer and their spouses and children. He graduated from Talmud Torah Realschule, left Germany and went to British Mandate Palestine where he lived on Kibbutz Givat HaShlosha and helped build what is today the city of Bat Yam. He immigrated to the U.S. and served in the 54th AAA Battalion, which took part in the battle of Okinawa. He is retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. He was active in Temple Israel, Temple Israel Men's Club, where he was past president, was Man of the Year, in Brith Sholem and Jewish War Veterans. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Rabbi Michael Panitz. The family will receive well wishers at Temple Israel all afternoon Tuesday at Temple Israel, Norfolk, followed by a service beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel at Temple Israel. The family requests that contributions be made to Temple Israel, 7225 Granby Street, Norfolk; the Jewish Community Center, 500 Corporate Woods Dr., Virginia Beach, or a charity of your choice. H. D.
