Michael Katowitch Obituary

KATOWITCH, Michael, 85, of Bayonet Point, Fla., formerly of Richmond, Va., and Staten Island, N.Y., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, October 5, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Katowich; and his son, Gerry Katowich. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Erwood of Albuquerque, N.M., and Lynn Blake of Mechanicsville; a brother, Edward Katowich, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was retired from AMF Union Machinery, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. A private memorial service will be held at a future date. The family will receive friends at his daughter's home in Mechanicsville from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice Community Care, 10128 W. Broad St., Suite J., Glen Allen, Va. 23060. The family is being assisted by the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home.
