Ethel was one of the first people I worked with at the IMB. She had one of the most infectious laughs I ever heard. She could brighten up a room with her smile, and lift spirits with her beautiful voice. I'm sure she's singing and rejoicing in heaven right now! May your grief be consoled by the beauty of special memories of good times spent with her.

To The Family, When I think of Ethel I think of a missionary, because that's what she loved to do. As I travel across the states I have great memories of the ones who have always encouraged me and Ethel & Pickle surely were on the list. May God comfort you in this time and bundle you with his blanket of love. God Bless!

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow. We have fond childhood memories of Ethel always smiling and laughing as a child. Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.

Dear Dannette and Devondus---I am so sorry about your mom. I worked with her at Colonial Williamsburg many years ago when you two were little kids. When I was at the funeral yesterday, it seemed impossible to me that now you both are grown and she is gone. Images of all 3 of you are frozen in my mind @1978. Ethel was always so much fun and I regret that over the years are paths parted. But her laugh and her energy will forever be in my heart and mind. I know God is keeping you in the palm of his hand through this difficult time. Debbie Stone Lewis

To the Family,

It's difficult to bear the loss of one so very dear. But may it help a bit to know that caring thoughts are near. And may your special memories be a comfort to you, too. And keep the one you loved so much still very close to you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dannette and Devondus,

May your memories comfort you as they do me when I think of Aunt Ethel.

After all the years that have gone by, I still smile when I think of how she would hit the hill and make our stomachs drop :). I will always be thankful for her love, taking us to Little Elam and making my summer vacations "down South" so much brighter.

God Bless!

Kendall, Pickle, DeVondus & Family,

I was shocked to hear of Ethel's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. You should take comfort in knowing that she is now in a better place. I have fond memories of growing up with Ethel back home. I remember how we used to lovingly refer to her as "Big Ethel" when we were young to distinguish her from my late first cousin Ethel. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help during your times of sorrow.

My deepest sympathy to Kendall and family members of Ethel. As an IMB retiree, I have fond memories of Ethel. I especially remember on occasion when she lead the singing in chapel. She was a special person and His servant.

Pickle, DeVondus and family: I never dreamed that when I saw Ethel at Gilfield 4th Sunday in August that it would be my last time seeing her on this side of Jordan. She was her usual smiling, loving self. She was a great person, and we will all miss her.

Thank God for Ethel!

To the Family of My Beloved Friend, Ethel

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to heaven
And bring you back to us again.

No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows the reasons why.

Our hears still ache to sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know.

But now we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.

Since you’ll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A cherished place within our heart
Is where you’ll always stay.

So when tomorrow starts without you, don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time we think of you, we'll feel you close within our heart.
Knowing that the work you did on this earth, will truly speak for you.

To God Be the Glory and well done our good and faithful servant, you've earned your spot up there singing in God's Heavenly choir.

Love Always, Brenda Carter

Pickle and Family, One of the best memories I have of Ethel was the day she came to my sister's home to "pick up walnuts". She sat on a bucket, laughing and telling all of us stories of working with her grandmother to harvest walnuts for the winter.I wish we had taken a picture that day! I thank God for friends like you and Ethel...may the Lord continue to "hold you tight"...jlm :)

The Family,

May you always find solace in your memories of Ethel. For no one knows the day nor the hour that the Lord will call us home and when he does we will be forever in his boosom.
Smile knowing that Ethel is in the Lord's boosom and she is rejoicing in his presence. She is watching over each and everyone of you smiling because she knows she will see you again one day.
Her time here may have been short but it was for a PURPOSE. Everything she did, she did from her heart and her love of God.
May you continue to look to the Lord and each other during your time of sorrow and find a sense of peace to carry on.

May God Bless You.

Pickle, Devondus and Family:

Words cannot express how surreal Ethel’s passing is to me. What a light that has been dimmed that I know in some way you will each carry forward in memory and honor of Ethel’s life and work here. I pray at this hour that a fresh anointing will fall upon you and your family, that you will truly receive a peace that passes all understanding, that you will feel God’s presence in an even greater way and… Now unto him (and only him) that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy; To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power both now and ever – Amen (Jude 1:24-25).

Dearest Pickle, I am so sorry to hear about Ethel's homegoing. I offer you my deepest sympathy and love. Both Thurmon and I thought a lot of Ethel and I still remember the good visit we had when you visited us here in Fort Worth. Thurmon has now been gone four years and I will tell you that it does get a little easier as time goes by, but you will never get over missing Ethyl. My prayers and love are with you and your family. --- Sincerely, Doris Bryant

The news of the passing of my friend Ethel was such a shock. She was indeed an angel sent from Heaven. Her lovingkindness and encouraging words will be solely missed. May each of you, especially Pickle, Dannette, Devondus and Jammie cling to the assurance that God is with you and will never leave you. Please know that we are praying for each of you and that her memories will help to restore the joy in each of your hearts. Also cling to the joy of knowing we will all be united with Ethel one day as long as we continue to walk with Jesus each day and let Him lead us as He led Ethel.

Love and Prayers,
