Neva Jones Dean

DEAN, Neva Jones, 91, passed away at her daughter's home on October 7, 2008. She was born in Appling County, Ga., but had been a resident of Douglas, Ga., most of her adult life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglas, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James L. "Jake" Dean and a grandson, Gary Thomas Cliett. She is survived by two daughters, Morie Grantham of Midlothian, Va., and Anne Cliett and her husband, Tommy, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jody Coonley of Richmond, Va., Cindy Wilder of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Andy Grantham of Tampa, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and her devoted caregiver, Meshika Duck. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ricketson Funeral Home, Douglas, Ga. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 11, at the Hazlehurst City Cemetery, Hazlehurst, Ga., with the Rev. Shep Johnson of the First Baptist Church of Douglas, Ga., officiating. Ricketson Funeral Home of Douglas, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
