The Davis Family:
Fay I am so sorry to hear about your father's passing. I remember as kids how your dad use to always pick at us when we played in the house or on your front porch. He was truly a nice man and I know he's resting with the Lord.
I pray that God will comfort you and give you what you need in the days ahead.

To Sis Mary Davis & Family:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5,6.
I was sorry to hear of the loss of your husband. The pain is great at this time and the storm feels mighty, but do know that the comfort of God's loving arms will substain you at all times. Hold on to the loving memories of your loved one and they will help you to weather your storm and make it easier. No one knows what God's plan is and why things happen, but we just have to remember that whatever happens, it is his will and it is ordained by him. My prayers are with you all, and I am here Mary for you and your family, just a phone call away. Be Blessed and much love to you all.

My deepest sympathies to Randolph's family,
I have worked with Randolph at MCV for 20 years. His dedication to his work inspired and taught me when I first worked in a lab. His lifelong care and compassion for animals was a testament to his gentle character. I saw him recently and he was full of humor about how he and I were holding down the fort at MCV. I will miss his friendly self and his most positive outlook. He was an exceptional man. I hope you will find comfort in the many good memories you have. I will remember him fondly.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Always kind, respectful, soft-spoken, easy-going and thoughtful. A considerate neighbor. A true gentleman and family man. I never heard him complain or say a single unkind word in all the years I lived next door to him. He will truly be missed. My deepest condolences.

I met Randolph back in 1976 when I started that summer working as a Lab Aid for the Microbiology Department in the Egyptian Building. Randolph used to bring the supplies I needed to take care of my animals…. or should I say try to take care my animals. I was scared about everything, thinking that I could work with animals. Randolph knew I was scared to death, but he worked with me and showed me how to pick up and handle animals. Randolph taught me a lot, mostly gave me encouragement and with his help, I finally was able to handle all that was required of me to do my job.
I can remember when I was pregnant with my son, Randolph, Norris and Cliff used to joke about how big of a lunch I used to bring. One day I bought a big bowl of spaghetti to eat and and he looked at me and asked, “I know you’re not going to eat that big Jethro Bodeen serving of spaghetti”, and we all just bust out and laughed so hard. From that day on, he always joked about my lunches. I am going to miss Randolph, and I know that because I knew him and the kind of person he was in taking pride in his job, that I am a better person. He taught me to be efficient and professional in how I did my job. I will pray for your family and ask that God give you strength at this time because I know Randolph Davis was truly a special person and I was blessed to have known him.

I've known Randolph over 50 years; first in the South Hill area...got him to hire on at MCV and for over 30 years we were friends that worked together. We knew lots of the same people...we laughed, complained about work, talked about everything under the sun and in all those years there was never any danger of falling out of friendship. I TOLD him at least a thousand times not to work so hard/long. I will miss him very much. (Clifford McGhee)
I didn't know him nearly as well as Cliff did, but I worked in the same building with him maybe 10 or 15 years and I liked him, too. He used to come into the office I shared with Frank Brice and Matt Webster and laugh and talk with all of us. He was a good man and I offer my condolences along with Cliff. (Linda McGhee)
