Wallace F. Hardaway

HARDAWAY, Wallace F., age 76, of Blackstone passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mary Hardaway; and a brother, William Hardaway. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Christine C. Hardaway. Also, surviving are his children, Keith W. Hardaway, Alan K. Hardaway and wife, Theresa, and Susan H. Tucker, all of Blackstone; grandchildren, Lisa Johnson and husband, Oscar of Chesterfield, Kristin Hardaway, Jessica Hardaway, Stacy Tucker and Preston Hardaway, all of Blackstone; great-grandchildren, Austin Johnson, Destiny Johnson and Kayleigh-Ann Clapper; and a brother, James K. Hardaway and wife, Grace of Chesterfield. Mr. Hardaway was a member of the Blackstone Christian Church, where he served as an Elder and Trustee. He was a former chief of Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department and a lifetime member, serving for 56 years. He was the retired owner of Love and Hardaway Oil Company. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home, 1400 South Main Street, Blackstone, Va. with interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Blackstone Christian Church or Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department.
