Laverna Clarke Obituary

CLARKE, Laverna "L.C.", 80, of Emporia, Va. passed away October 10, 2008. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Pat; and his parents; five brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean. Also, his daughter, Debbie Marshall; her husband, Norman; and four grandsons, Steven, Clarke II, Philip and Andrew. He retired after nearly 40 years from what is now Verizon to do what he loved best - farming the land. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at Echols Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, October 12, 2008. A graveside service will be held at Matthews Chapel United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Monumental United Methodist Church, 300 Reese St., Emporia, Va. 23847, where he was an active member for over 50 years. Echols Funeral Home of Emporia is in charge of arrangements.
