TABOR, June Smith, widow, of Dr. William R. Tabor, passed away peacefully at her home in Diggs, Virginia on October 11, 2008 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Tabor is survived by her three children, William R. Tabor Jr., Anne Tabor Morgan, Robert James Tabor; and a sister, Harriet Smith Freeman of Tennessee. She is also survived by a son-in-law, David M. Morgan; four grandchildren, Grace Morgan-Holmes, Rachael L. Morgan, David M. Morgan Jr., William R. Tabor III; and dear friend, Robin Hutson Hurst. Mrs. Tabor was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to Frank and Grace Smith. She graduated from Concord College and married William Rudolph Tabor in 1948. She worked as a teacher and chemist at the state lab of Virginia while Dr. Tabor graduated from MCV. The couple moved to Chatham, Massachusetts where Dr. Tabor practiced family medicine and the two began a family. In 1958, the family returned to Richmond where they lived for 21 years. Mrs. Tabor was an active member of Ginter Park Baptist Church for many years. She was acting President of the Women's' Missionary Union, Director for Acteens, and President of the Ginter Park Garden Club. Dr. and Mrs. Tabor retired to Diggs, Virginia in Mathews County in 1980, enjoying the Chesapeake Bay, family, friends and time together. Mrs. Tabor is remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was truly a woman of faith and honor. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice of Virginia for their love, care, and devotion to Mrs. Tabor during her long illness. They would especially like to recognize and thank their friend, aide June Smith, for her tireless commitment and loving support during these past two years. The family will receive friends at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home in Mathews, Virginia, Sunday October 12, 2008 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. , as well as on Monday, October 13, 2008 at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue, Richmond, Virginia, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. A private burial service will take place Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in Montpelier, Virginia. Dear Billy, Ann and Bobby,
Mom and I were reminiscing the wonderful times we all spent together over the years. We have had some great times haven't we? You have been blessed as have Andy, Nancy and I to have such loving, fun, wonderful parents. You know Dad and Bill and June are having a wonderful reunion right now. Take care and God bless. Your loving, wonderful mother will be missed. She does however live on in each of you.
We love you,
Marti

Tabor Children,

It has been many years since I last saw you or your parents, but have many fond memories of both. Your mom and dad were special people and I remember many times being at your house in Richmond or staying down in Matthews and either hunting or fishing. You are all so fortunate to have had such wonderful parents who made all feel welcome. Alzyheimers is an awful disease process and I hope your mother did not have suffer. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

May God Bless All!

Bob, Bill, Anne & David,
I was very, very sad to hear of the passing of your Mom. In a special way though, I was also happy. Happy, because I know that she is now able to see once again the love of her life...your Dad. You could always tell, just by the way that they acted and the way they spoke of each other, that they were always very much in love. Your Mom will now get to spend eternity with your Dad,
I am sad for a couple of reasons. The most obvious...because all of you, and all of your children have lost such a special Mom and grandmom. Another thing that always impacted me...was the love and support that your Mom ALWAYS showed her kids. I am also sad because, other than my own parents, I have lost the two people who have most impacted and affected my life. Growing up, there was NOBODY that I would have rather been around (other than my folks) than "MA & Pa Tabor". I may not have seen them in a number of years, but I can honestly tell you that I am always remembering an incident, an issue, a conversation, etc...where the interaction with your parents impacted me. They taught me much, loved me as one of their own, always welcomed me & my kids into their home and made us feel like we belonged there. There was never anywhere I would have rather been than sitting at your parents kitchen table in Diggs....watching Dr. Tabor eat corn on the cob!
I love you guys....and will keep you and your folks in my prayers!
Love....Terry
