NUNNELLY, Mrs. Thelma Lewis, 80, of Durham, N.C., formerly of Blackstone, Va., died Wednesday, October 15, 2008. She is the widow of Eugene M. "Scritch" Nunnelly. Thelma is survived by two children, Mrs. Gene N. Swedish and her husband, Joseph, of Novi, Mich., and Wallace E. Nunnelly of Durham; three grandchildren, Ian Swedish of Ann Arbor, Mich., Evan Swedish of St. Paul, Minn., and Erin Swedish of Toledo, Ohio; sisters, Virginia Peel, Rayzelle Meredith and her husband, Pete, and Carolyn Copeland, all of Virginia Beach; a brother, Gilliam M. Lewis and his wife, Doris, of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, Bus. Hwy. 460, near Blackstone, Va. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends after the service, then will follow with a reception at the Blackstone Herb Cottage. The family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Duke Hospice at the Meadowlands. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Duke Homecare & Hospice, 1001 Corporate Drive, Hillsborough, N.C. 27278.
