Charles Shelton Obituary

Published by Bliley's Funeral Home - Chippenham on Oct. 23, 2008.
SHELTON, Charles E., age 55, died while vacationing in Nevada, October 20, 2008. Born May, 16,1953 in Richmond Virginia, to Peggy Metz, and the late Arnold G. Shelton. He graduated from Hermitage High School in Richmond. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca; sons, Michael and Andrew Shelton; stepsons, James and Timothy of Pasadena, Md.; sisters, Linda Cooke, Sharon Yoder, Karen Butler and Susan Wilborn; and one brother, Dale Shelton. Charles is also survived by his grandchildren, Drew, Nick, Tyler, Michael, Gavin, and Olivia; along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold; sister, Pamela; and brother, Arnold Jr. Married in 1998, Charles, and Becky were wed in a private ceremony in Pasadena, Md. The two celebrated their mutual love for traveling and were repeat visitors to St. Martin and Riviera Maya, Mexico. They recently enjoyed the ruggedness of South Dakota - a trip that was greatly symbolic of how he lived his life, simple, honest, and pure. Even his travels encompassed many different facets of his life whenever in a new location, he found himself thinking of his loved ones back home, and tried desperately to find a way to bring a small piece of his travels back with him to share with those who were unable to join him. His numerous trips to exotic locations afforded him the opportunities and exotic subject matter for him to practice his love of photography. He had a zest for life, and a heart like none other's. His giving nature, and his generous, loving, and genuine attitude are likely some of the things that he will be remembered for. Funeral services for Charles E. Shelton will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, October 25, at Bliley's - Chippenham, 6900 Hull St. Rd., Richmond, Va. 23224. Charles will be transported to Forest Lawn Cemetery following the service at Bliley's. Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home, on Friday, October 24, from 2 to 4 and again from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in his name for St. Jude's Children's Center. Charles was also an active contributor to various charity organizations, though St. Judes was his most cherished. Please continue Charles' legacy by making a contribution in his name.

Words are never enough, but my God says that He will supply all our needs. He has always proved Himself true to me and He will to, you my special friend. I will so miss answering the phone and hearing Charles say, "Miss Becky". Never did find out how you got him to call you that.
Just shows what a special guy he was.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
