Bessie,
I don't believe your father ever met anyone that he did not know! He made people feel like he knew them even if he didn't by his warm and gentle greetings. May you and your family be blessed and comforted by the Almighty.

Ms Edith, James, Bessie, and other family members,
It goes without saying that we loved Deacon Minor. He was truly a tall and proud fixture on Sunday mornings. He brought much recognition to St Mark throughout the area for his support of Sunday School and Ushering.
As a youth usher, I remember fondly his kind coaching and the pride and dignity he instilled in us of being an usher.
MARCH ON DEACON MINOR.

To the family,
I can vividly recall the many times I saw Dea. "Pete" Minor marching around proudly at my church, Mt. Olivet. He was always poised and ready to march for the Lord. Can't you just see him leading the march in Heaven. Well done Dea. Minor, you won't be forgotten.

October 24, 2008

To Edith, Bessie, James and family...I know there are no words that can be said to truly take away your sorrow...but "Papa" is in heaven now with no more pain and no more worries...you can find comfort in the fact that "Deacon" touched the lives of so many and he is smiling down on you from heaven knowing that his work on this earth was not in vein and will never be forgotten......Teresa Turner Harris and Helena Robertson

Dear Minor Family,

Deacon Minor was a wonderful man and a good example of what a Christian Man should be. I will never forget how he always encouraged Young African American Men, myself included, to stand up tall and have confidence in who you are. He will be missed.

Dear Bessie and Family,

Please accept my sincere condolences in the "homegoing" of your father - but what a "HOMECOMING" it must have been in heaven when Deacon Minor marched in! So many of us never find our calling down here, but Deacon Minor found his. We can almost hear the Saviour saying, "Well done!"

May God's blessings continue to be with the family.

I will really miss Deacon Pete Minor. I'm the son of Robert & Dorothy Brooks. Whenever he saw me he poked his finger to my forehead and said "I know you, you Robert Brooks' son" He always had a smile and since I got married last year always told me to "take good care of my wife" We will miss seeing him and hearing his voice.

No man lives unto himself, for every living thing is bound by cords to every other living thing.

Ms Edith, Bessie, James and family I am truly sorry for your loss, but I know that Deacon will live on in the hearts and memories of all of those who had the good fortune to have
met him.

He was a very special person and I will miss him.

Love To You All

There is so much we admired about Dea. Minor.
Robert served on the Usher Board with him at St. Mark many years ago and I remember the times he came to Abner for the Usher's Anniversary and with great pride led the Ushers on the march around the church. Many got tired along the way but many kept up with him.
He was always very friendly no matter where you saw him. His smile would light up any room.
He will be missed so much by all who knew and loved him.
A job well done, Dea. Minor.

Sincerely,

Second Union Baptist Church Ushers Ministry

Deacon Minor has “marched” into the arms of his Heavenly Father.
You have our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy at this time.
Our prayer is that God’s love will draw you close and give you peace. We will continue to keep you in our prayers.

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Psalm 84:10 KJV

There is so much I remember about Deacon Minor as a child, every Sunday morning he picked us for Sunday School in that big blue bus, he took us to those Usher's Anniversaries and he always knew to stop at those stores up on the corner before we went. He would put on those white gloves and march us around until we were tired but it was so much fun and at our own usher's anniversary he would really put on a show we would go all through the church. His name was and probably will always be sonomous with Usher's Anniversaries in the area. He had a sweet gentle spirit and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

To the Minor Family:
My sincere condolence. I shall always remember Deacon Minor as an usher who appeared to know the real meaning of "door keeper" in the house of the Lord. Although I rarely attend ushers anniversaries now, I can remember him leading marches at Mt. Olivet in Montpelier when I ushered. He was always "spirited" and poised. I imagine that his stride along the streets of gold in Heaven is quite the same, but even prouder. I'm sure that he will be greatly missed at every ushers anniversary in the future.

Deacon Minor put on his white gloves and began his famous march toward that pearly white gate. I know he had a smile on his face. We all will miss him but he has made his march and he is resting in the arms of the Lord.

It's been a long time since I've been in contact with you (since the good ole days at VUU). Sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I'm sure he will be greatly missed throughout the Goochland, Louisa and Hanover areas.

May God watch over you in this difficult time.
