Vee, the Spirit moved me today to think about your Dad and the important role he had in my life in Christ. I assumed he had died but when I found his obituary I was surprised (happily) to learn that he had lived to be 99 and (unhappily) to read in his obituary that your sister had died unexpectedly. I was so sorry to read of that additional loss in your life. Your Dad was an inspiration to me and played a pivotal role in my life in a way that shaped me in a very important way. I felt blessed to have known him and your Mom - she also was an inspiration to me and made me feel very special as a young person. In my prayers of gratitude for the saints who formed and molded me into someone better than I would be on my own, they both are always included, and I thank God for them and for you. I hope the grace and peace of God are keeping you in faith, hope and love.

Just last year I had attempted to find Carol through Classmates.com. Today (9/1/09)it occurred to me to search "Carol Jones, daughter of Overton Jones," and I was saddened to find her obituary. Carol, Bobby Bryant and I were inseparable "buds" in junior high and early high school. I remember you, Vee, and your friendship with TV cameramen which got us an "in" at "Dance Party" and for my little brother, Sailor Bob's autograph. Carol was a force unto herself even then. My deepest sympathies.

I am truly sorry for your loss. May memories of happier times help you to cope during these most difficult days. Have faith in the promise God made at Psalms 37:29 -“The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.” His promises bring us comfort and offer us hope. They will without fail come true. I offer my sincere condolences to you all.
