JORDAN, Amy Prince, 82, of Richmond, a native of Yorkshire, England. Amy said she was ready to go home. In a few days thereafter God's Angel, Death, softly and peacefully took our Amy's hand on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Lucy Corr Nursing Home, Chesterfield, Va. She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas D. Jordan of South Richmond; daughter, Judy Alleyne Melton and husband, John W. Melton; stepson, T. David Jordan and wife, Darlene, and their families; brother, Jack N. Prince and wife, Audrey Bradbury Prince, of Yorkshire, England; seven granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A special expression of appreciation to the many kind caregivers, especially Robin, Shaunta, Aaron, Ollie, Dustin, Sylvia, Angie, Rhonda and Sarah and Charles, with Asera Care Hospice. Amy immigrated to America in 1953. She met her husband in Richmond, Va., in 1961 and they were married on New Year's Eve 1964. In the 1960s, she was an employee of Miller and Rhoads, Richmond, and worked in the cosmetic department with Sarah Clement, Jean Henshaw and Louise Orr. She became a U.S. citizen, January 1991. In August of this year, Amy was awarded by the Prime Minister of England with a certificate and medal to recognize her service to England during WWII as a member of the Women's Land Army. Her remains rest at Joseph W. Bliley's-Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and immediately following, the funeral service will be held at the chapel at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 1. Interment will be private later at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Memorials may be made to Lucy Corr Foundation, Inc., P.O. Drawer 170, Chesterfield, Va. 23830-0170.

It was an honor getting to know Amy. I enjoyed my many visits with the two of you learning about England and all the wonderful places you two traveled. My heart goes out to you Mr Jordan. Your devotion to Amy is an inspiration for all.
