SMITH, Hazel Lee Jacobs, age 92, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, formerly of Nokesville, Virginia, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at "The Eleanor House" assisted living home in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Mrs. Smith was born in Culpeper County, Virginia, on January 3, 1916, daughter of the late Charles Leslie and Annie Taylor Hitt Jacobs. In 1949 she and her late husband, Harvey Richard Smith, moved to Nokesville where they operated a dairy farm for many years. Mrs. Smith was an active member of the Nokesville Church of the Brethren for over 50 years, the Veterans Farm Club and Prince William/Fairfax Farm Bureau auxiliary. Survivors include her loving daughter, Lillian Earhart and husband, Jack, of Mechanicsville, Virginia; three grandchildren, Steven J. Earhart and wife, Sue, Richard O. Earhart and wife, Cindy, and Lisa D. Keyser and husband, Richard, all of Chesterfield, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Sara, Laura, Seth, Holly, and Ricky; and twin great-great-granddaughters, Emma and Ella. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 at Nokesville Church of the Brethren, 13002 Fitzwater Drive, Nokesville, with Pastor Clinton Owens and Pastor Mark Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Nokesville, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Nokesville Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 56, Nokesville, Virginia 20182, or Nokesville Fire & Rescue, 12826 Marsteller Drive, Nokesville, Virginia 20182, in memory of Hazel Smith. Condolences may be sent to www.piercefh.com.

I held Harvey and Hazel in high regard and they both taught me things just by being themselves. Now that they have both gone home I know you will be lonely for them but you have beautiful memories to sustain you.
