John Fiorino Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Nov. 11 to Nov. 12, 2008.
FIORINO, John Joseph, retired banquet manager of The Commonwealth Club, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2008, with my family by my side, from lung cancer. Born in the mid-1950's in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., I wasn't aging that well, anyway. I leave behind the most loving and supportive parents God ever granted, my father, John and my mother, Mary Fiorino; two amazingly caring sisters, Peggy Balak and Carol Fiorino; and my niece and nephew, Townsley and Joseph Balak, all whom I love dearly. I also say goodbye to my devoted extended family of long-held, close friends, especially Howard, my best friend, and Roger, the love of my life. Thank you for all you have done for me these past months. Memorial services will be private, with cremated remains to be scattered at the beach house during "glow" time. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, Va. 23227.

Mary, I never met your son John, but we sat and talked about him often. I am sorry for a loss before his time. He sounds like an amazing man. You and your husband should be so proud. Thinking of you.........

It is comforting to see, John, that you kept your sarcastic self right up to the end. To have such devoted and loving people by your side, that is the true testament to the man who drew them. Blessed be.
