Clarence Conner Obituary

CONNER, Clarence M. Jr. "Clem", 76, of Richmond, passed away peacefully at his home, November 6, 2008, surrounded by his family. He graduated from Roanoke College, and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. After service in the Army during the Korean War, he went to T.C. Williams School of Law (U. of R.), and received his J.D. He was an attorney for the IRS, Virginia Chemical, and Legislative Services, which he retired from in 1995. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Jean Slate Conner; two daughters, Susan S. Conner and Katherine Conner Cook (Ed); three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Caroline and Anna Cook; two brothers, Thomas L. Conner of Kentucky and Franklin K. Conner of California; a brother-in-law, James R. Slate Sr. (Liz); and a sister-in-law, Martha S. Thornhill, all of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the home of Katherine & Ed Cook. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Bon Secours Hospice, and, in lieu of flowers, requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Bon Secours Hospice Fund, 8580 Magellan Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23227.
