LANIER, James Lee "Jimmy," 80, of Ashland, passed away November 20, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Annie Cavenaugh Lanier; his children, Larry Lee Lanier and Sheila Lanier Platteel and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Kristen Lanier and Matthew Platteel; two sisters, Evelyn Blankenship of Powhatan, and Faye Thigpen and husband, C.G.; four brothers, Samuel and wife, Julie, Russell and wife, Carol, Elwood Ray and wife, Betty, and Rashie and wife, Hazel, of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, at 2 p.m. at Community Funeral Home, West Main Street, Beulaville, N.C. 28518. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Cavenaugh Cemetery, S.N.C. 41, Wallace, N.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Odyssey Health Care, 8000 Franklin Farms Dr., Suite 100, Richmond, Va. 23229.
