CLARKE, Janet Guild, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, died December 1, 2008. Born in Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Stanley and Helen Lyman Guild and the wife of the late Emmet C. "Corny" Clarke. She had worked for Montgomery Ward and Virginia Power Company prior to retiring from Methodist Publishing House. She was a past member of the Pamunkey Women's Club. Survivors include sons, Emmet C. III "Trip," Andrew Guild (Marilyn), Kevin Chalkley (Suzanne); grandchildren, Kristin (Toby) Bibb, Erin (Billy) Samples, Katherine (Ryan) Arnold; great-grandchildren, Mason and Lilly Bibb, Elishia and Will Samples, Emily and Blake Arnold; and her nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Guild. The family will be receiving friends at Bennett Funeral Home, Mechanicsville, on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Pamunkey Women's Club at 16505 Arch Hill Road, Hanover, Virginia, 23069.
