Wade Holdsworth Obituary

HOLDSWORTH, Wade Hampton, 71, a resident of Waverly, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Born in Surry County on May 3, 1937, he was the son of the late Rudolph Johnson and Agnes Arwood Holdsworth. He was a Surry County farmer for 45 years and a veteran of the United States Army. He was also a member of the Carsley United Methodist Church, Blackwater Sportsman Club and Carsley Hunt Club. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Hanson Holdsworth; two daughters, Michelle Renee Crumpler and husband, Lee, of Centreville, Sabrina Lynn West of Lenexa; two sons, Wade Temple Holdsworth and Andrew Johnson Holdsworth, both of Waverly; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers, Walter Thomas Holdsworth and wife, Jean, of Wakefield, Earl Johnson Holdsworth and wife, Ann, of Disputanta; David Lee Holdsworth and wife, Estelle, of Spring Grove; a sister-in-law, Wanda Sue Lentz and husband, David, of Bomont, W.Va.; and a special nephew, Tommy Holdsworth and wife, Linda, of Waverly, and their children, Amy and Lisa. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, Wakefield. The Rev. Ray Rowland will officiate. Burial will be in the Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Carsley United Methodist Church, 224 Otterdam Rd., Waverly, Va. 23890, or to the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 318, Waverly, Va. 23890. The family is being served by J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Purviance Chapel. Condolences may be posted at www.jtmorriss.com.
