THOMPSON, James "Garfield," of Richmond, Virginia, departed this life on Saturday, December 6, 2008. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Thelma Winston Thompson; two sons, Garfield Alonzo (Angela) of Lawton, Oklahoma and Darryl of Fort Worth, Texas; four daughters, Terri Thompson of Amherst, New York, Amanda Tuppince and Jean Tuppince of Richmond, Virginia, Pamela Jones (David) of East Point, Georgia; two stepchildren, Rodney Winston (Wanda) of Richmond, Virginia, and Wendy Johnson (Darryl) of Lillington, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren; one brother, Walter Herman Thompson Jr. of Beaverdam, Virginia; and one sister, Mary Thompson of Beaverdam; one aunt, Mary Pryor of Maryland; three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 12 noon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 14476 Scotchtown Rd. Rev. John Kinney, pastor, officiating. Interment church cemetery. At the family's request, there will be no repast.
