JOHNSON, Elfreda B., of Ebony, Va., died Friday, December 12 , 2008. She was a former teacher at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, N.C. for 20 years, a charter member of Highland United Methodist Church in Raleigh, the pianist and choir director, a lifetime member of the Raleigh Piano Teacher's Association and the United Methodist Women, the pianist and choir director at Prospect United Methodist Church in Ebony for almost 20 years and the widow of Hubert Edward Johnson. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Johnson of Ebony and Barbara J. Barnes and husband, Robert I. Barnes Jr., of Salisbury, N.C.; six grandchildren, Leigh Clarke of Ebony, Laura Petersen and husband, Shannon Petersen, USN, of Clayton, N.C., Kindra Farmer and husband, Philip, of Raleigh, NC., Amy Hossfeld and husband, David, of Suffolk, Robert I. Barnes III and wife, Emily, of Charleston, S.C., and Edwin Douglas Barnes and wife, Melissa, of Byron, Minn.; a cousin, James Nimmo of Norfolk; and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service Sunday at 2 p.m. in Prospect United Methodist Church, Ebony, with interment in Canaan Cemetery, Brodnax. Visitation Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial contributions to the Prospect UMC, 1974 Ebony Road, Ebony, Va. 23845.
