Elva Wiggins Carter

CARTER, Elva Wiggins (Martin), 83, died December 11, 2008 at the Hermitage where she had resided for many years. Elva was born in North Carolina and moved to Richmond during WWII to work at DuPont. Elva was the widow of William V. Martin and Alex Carter Sr. She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Carolyn Martin Savage and Bill, and Will H. Martin and Rya. She is also survived by her brothers, sisters, and their spouses, Kenneth Wiggins, Joe Wiggins and Donna, Billy Gene Wiggins and Helen, Carol Wiggins and Charlotte, Jewell Mathena and Vern, and Engabeau Scott. Additionally, there is the extended Carter family of West Point, where she spent many years participating and enjoying their family events. These relatives are: Alex Carter Jr. and Gail, Sandra Hall and William, Billy Carter and Barbara; and their children and grandchildren. Our family is deeply indebted to her dearest friend, Jimmy Rudd and his family, whose loyalty and friendship meant everything to Elva. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
