Dear Family and Friends if Liz:
I was stunned to hear that Liz had passed. I heard the news today, quite by accident, from a work associate. My fond memories of Liz are related to my friendship with her niece T. Diane. TDi and I were roomies and during that time I was introduced to the most marvelous and exciting extended family imaginable. The travel, the laughter, the entertaining, the love, the caring...Liz was at the center of the majesty of this family. Unfortunately, I hadn't talked to Liz in years, but just writing about her rekindles joy in my spirit and makes me smile. Please accept my condolences for your loss. I am so very glad that I knew Liz and my memories of our time together are happy. God bless you all and thanks be to God for her life.

To the family:
We will always cherish the sweet memories we have of Liz and our time together at the Department of Education. She was a true friend. She always made the School Nutrition Office a festive time during the Christmas season. Liz will always be our “ONE IN A MILLION.”
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.

To Liz's family:
Before our DOE workday began, Liz and I spent many early mornings together in my office, sharing stories and telling jokes. Work stuff took a back seat. I can picture her now coming in unannounced, launching into whatever was on her mind, as she started peeling that overripe banana. What a ribald sense of humor. We kept this daily ritual for several years, both in the office and while working together on the road, until her retirement in '95.
Liz loved and was proud of her brilliant family, especially her nieces and nephews. I loved so much the family stories about her upbringing in Halifax County. Remembering some of our conversations, I believe most of her free moments were spent thinking about you and the anticipation of spending time with you on the annual cruises or other family reunions. Planning and doing her yard work took a close second.
Our daughter, Suzanne, stayed a week at Liz's home one time, and came away "feeling worldly", as she put it. Liz had a way of "cutting to the chase" to effectively help a person with a problem or reinforce a positive trait. To use that old expression, she did not "suffer fools gladly" and just traveled through life at top speed doing what interested her and what needed to be done.
I'll forever be indebted to Liz and one of our friends at DOE for putting me in contact with a woman that would later become my best friend and wife!!!
We grieve with you.
