LEWIS, James Gordon "Pat", 88, of Stony Creek, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009. A wonderful husband and family man, he was born in Sussex County on January 19, 1920 to Hugh and Pattie Lewis. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ethelyn "T" Lewis; loving brother, Roy T. Lewis Sr. of Stony Creek; sisters, Helen Sturdivant of Richmond and Catherine Knepper of Broadway, Va.; sister-in-law, Maggie Lou Lewis of Stony Creek; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Lewis was a lifelong member of Sappony Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, had served on the Sussex County Board of Supervisors, and was an FSA County Committeeman. He was a charter member of both the Sappony Ruritan Club and the Stony Creek Volunteer Rescue Squad, and was a member of the Edwards Lodge #308 A.F. & A.M. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd. in Jarratt. Interment will follow at Winfield Family Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sappony Baptist Church, to Stony Creek Volunteer Rescue Squad, or to a charity of your choice.

Family

A man of many talents has moved on to the next life whare he can continue to do good work. Nobody does it better than those who choose the path to serve EMS thanks "Pat" for his dedication to SVRC.

Brenda, Doug, Jason & Tiffany and extended family. My heart grieves at the lost of such a wonderful loved uncle & servant of the Lord. Please take comfort in knowing that he suffers no more and he now is in the arms of Jesus. My prayers and love are with the entire family as you go through this valley. Know that I love you all and share in your sorrow.
