GALLAHER, Ryan Bruce, age 40, of Aylett, suddenly departed his earthly life to be with the Lord on January 23, 2009. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville. Good bye my sweet man. But not forever, thank in the Lord for that. I love you more than words! You are SO loved. Your Wife

January 22, 2010

Dear Rex and Barbara,

I have thought about you so much this year, and especially during the holiday season. I know it must seem so unreal to you that Ryan has been gone for so long already. I am sure the pain is still part of your life and will be for a long, long time, maybe forever in some way. But I pray for God's comfort and grace as you emerge from this first year. I am glad you have the grandchildren who are a real part of Ryan to hold onto. Please take care of yourselves and each other as you move into a new life without your son's physical presence. He will always be with you in spirit and in your memories of times shared.

Holding you up to the Father.

Love, Janice

Always a family.

Ryan,
This is the first time I've been able to view this site. I've wanted to write something, but couldn't get the courage to get here. I never got the chance to say goodbye. I don't think you suffered, but I pray every day that the angels were w/you immediately. I wish I could have saved you, Baby, please know I tried! The kids & I miss you so much, sometimes I can't believe it's true. We WILL see you again in Heaven. You were an amazing husband to me, & daddy for our kids. We were blessed to have had you in our lives. I just wish it didn't have to end! You will always be in my heart. Thank you for being the man you were! This isn't goodbye. I can't say that b/c we all will be reunited one day. So long...for now, B.L.--(oh, how I miss our inside jokes!)
I'll love you forever.

Your wife, Kara

Our dear Ryan,
Your were our delight and our love for almost forty-one years. You left a legacy for all of us left behind to strive to attain. You were our son, a husband and a father that all who know you should strive to emulate. Why you died now I do not know. I tell myself our Father knows best. You now rest with the Father where we shall again meet and our tears will be dried. We miss you, our son. You left us much too soon and our heart grieves. You have taken the journey we all must take alone and is part of the Master's plan. We miss you and we are trying to let you go. Rest in peace, our beloved Ryan.

Ryan,

I miss you so much. I loved you because of who you were. Now that you're gone and I see all that you did to try to make sure your family would be taken care of once you were gone, I love you even more. You were a good man, Ryan. I love you with all my soul.

Kara-
I have not stoped thinking about you and the kids since we spoke. Ryan was a really special guy and together you made such a great team. I love you and I am praying that you are able to find comfort and peace in the days to come.

Dear Kara, I'm so sorry I misspelled your name. I had been thinking about one of my favorite Catholic hymns - Ubi Caritas. The first line is "Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est. Where charity and love are, God is there." From my brief time with Ryan I know that Ryan, you and your children had and will continue to have a home where God is always there.

Love and prayers,
Suzanne (Sandy's sister)

Dearest Cara, Cooper and Colleen, Although I only had the pleasure of spending time with Ryan at Sandy and Gary's rehearsal dinner I will always remember him. His delight in talking about his family, his warm smile and infectuous laughter are what I remember most. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved husband and father. You are in my heart and prayers.

With love,
Suzanne, (Sandy's sister)

To The Family
Ryan was a great guy, and a very hard worker at work, and he will also be missed at work. He always said something funny to make you laugh, even when you are having a good day. The last day we talked was about family, and you could tell how much he cared about his family.
God Bless You All.

I really don't know what to say. When something like this happens, you start to think of things you haven't thought about in years. I only met ryan a handful of times, but I remember thinking, at your wedding, how nice he was and how happy I was for you. I am sorry for your loss and please don't hesitate to get in touch with me or anybody in my family. You know the Nolan's will always be here for you. Love Susie (nolan) Atkins

Dear Kara and family -

My thoughts and prayers go out to you. I will truly miss Ryan at Qimonda. It just will not be the same without hearing Ryan's voice on the Nextel radio. He was a dedicated worker and was always there to help me with the metrology tools.

We were supposed to go to the Qimonda Tech Academy together. I remember how disappointed he was when the program was cancelled. Ryan was looking forward so much to getting a full college degree to show to you. He was always saying such wonderful things about you and the kids. I am glad I was able to know Ryan. I will miss you buddy!

In my conversations with Ryan I learned several things. He had a terrific since of humour, he cared about others, and that he truly loved his wife and family. These are some of the words you may hear or read in the next few weeks however there are no words that can truly express our sorry for your family's loss. We can only pray that God gives you and yours the strength to endure.

Music, when soft voices die

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.
