Bessie Payne Harrison

HARRISON, Bessie Payne, 96, widow of Joseph Albert Harrison Jr., her husband of 55 years, died surrounded by her family on the morning of January 25, 2009. Mrs. Harrison was the daughter of the late John and Martha Payne of Fluvanna County. She and her husband were the proprietors of Harrison's Texaco on East Belt Boulevard from 1960 to 1974. They were also longtime members of Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Harrison is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jo and Tommy Woodcock; her two granddaughters, Christy and Tammy; her great-granddaughter, Karli, all of Chesterfield. The family will receive friends at Bliley's - Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday at the chapel, with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park, Sandston. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 5200 Newbys Bridge Rd.
