BURCH, Bertha "Bea" Burruss, 82, of Powhatan, passed away January 27, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Littleton Coleman Burruss and Bertha Catherine Meeks. She is survived by her husband, Robert Guy Burch Sr.; four sons, Robert Guy Burch Jr., Donald Thomas Burch, John Michael Burch and Patrick Littleton Burch; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burch was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, George, Leo, Ray, Fred, John, Ashton, Archibald, Thomas and William Burruss; and Henetta Schlaster and Catherine Lacy. Bea loved gardening and was a member of the Powhatan Garden Club. She was a great cook and won numerous blue ribbons at the State Fair. Her family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to the Alzheimer's Association.
