Gladys Henderson Matthews

MATTHEWS, Gladys Henderson, 92, of Homosassa, Florida, formerly of Varina, died January 28, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur H. Matthews. She is survived by her sons, Wilbur Howard Matthews Jr. and his wife, Sandra Harris Matthews, James Lawrence Matthews and his wife, Mildred Townsend Matthews; her grandchildren, Andrea Matthews Belcher and her husband, Scott, Wilbur Howard Matthews III and his wife, Samantha, and Shelley Matthews; three great-grandsons, Jacob Harris Belcher, Zachary Howard and Elijah Samuel Matthews. She is also survived by two sisters, Emma Henderson Hubbard and Pearl Henderson Duke. Mrs. Matthews was a member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church. Her remains rest at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church.
