Ksenia Rozycki Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Jan. 31, 2009.
ROZYCKI, Ksenia "Anne" died on January 22, 2009 at Beth Sholom Gardens, Richmond, Va. She was born April 15, 1920 in Lvov, Poland, to Joseph and Mina Litwak (nee Schaerf). By courage, and luck, she survived Nazi occupation and in 1948 emigrated to England. There, she married a young engineer, Kazimierz, and they soon joined her brother- and sister-in-law, Joe and Hulda Ronar, in Montreal, Canada. While there she gave birth to a son. In 1970, the family moved to Boston, and she went to work for Prudential Insurance, retiring 19 years after moving to the New Jersey office in 1975. She and her husband came to the Summerhill retirement community, Bon Air in 1998 to be close to their grandchildren. In Richmond, she loved working with children at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and on the pediatric ward at St. Mary's Hospital. Predeceased by her parents, two brothers and two sisters and, in 2004, her husband, she is survived by her son, Henry; grandchildren, Mike, Sarah and Jo; niece, Sophie Zaretsky; and great-nephews, Daniel and Jeffrey Zaretsky. Those wishing to may contribute to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the United States Holocaust Museum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to practice tolerance, understanding and peace.

It is with a great deal of sadness that I bid a fond farewell to my dear friend Anne whom I have greatly appreciated during the few years of our friendship at Summerhill. One had to get to know her over a period of time to recognize her depth and strength of character. She will be sorely missed.
